  1. When a Rabbi and his wife found they were expecting a baby, the Rabbi
  2. went to his congregation at the local Synagogue and asked for a raise
  3. in his salary.

  5. After much consideration and discussion, they passed a new rule that as
  6. the Rabbi's family expanded ......so would his pay cheque.
  7.  
  8. After the birth of six children, in just a few years, this started to
  9. get very expensive.  Thus the concerned congregation decided to hold
  10. another meeting to discuss the Rabbi's ever growing salary situation.

  12. As you well can imagine, there was much dissension amongst the
  13. congregation.  Finally, the Rabbi got up and spoke to the assembled
  14. throng:

  17. "Having children is an act of God," he said.
  18.  
  19. In the back of the Schul, a little old man with a full beard stood up
  20. and in a frail voice said, "Point of information ..... snow and rain
  21. are also acts of God, but when we get too much of either one we wear
  22. rubber."
